Get started

Forage herbs, chicory and plantain are forage species high in trace elements with strong animal performance potential. Although used as an addition to pasture mixes, forage herbs may be used as specialist short to medium term forages. Deep rooted and heat tolerant, forage herbs are a highly palatable feed for grazing stock.

Types of Forage Herbs

Chicory

A short-medium term, leafy herb with high feed value and deep tap roots allowing it to thrive in dry environments. With strong summer growth activity, chicory is best suited as a 6 to 18 month summer forage with excellent livestock performance potential. Being high in minerals and with high forage quality, chicory is also a valuable component of pasture mixes to enhance summer yield and livestock performance.

Plantain

Plantain is a herb with a fibrous and coarse root system, that is well liked by animals. Sown either as a component of pasture mixes or as a special purpose crop, Plantain is a palatable summer-active, high quality forage.
